We’re starting to see them more as a common feature versus a luxury: phone apps that allow you to have your vehicle’s information at your fingertips. You can know everything from the amount of fuel in the tank to being able to physically start your auto from your iPhone by a simple push of a button! If all of this seems too advanced, rest assured you are not alone. This technology will take some getting used to.
Nissan is among some major car companies developing apps for iPhone, Smartphone users and beyond. One vehicle where phone apps will play a huge role is in the all new Leaf. It is being launched this month in several states. Illinois is sadly not one of the initial states, so you won’t be able to find it at your favorite dealership for Lake County used cars, Liberty Nissan. Down the road, though, this may change as more Leafs are released across the country.
What will the app allow Leaf users to do with their vehicles? Those drivers who have the correct hand-held device will able to see the car’s battery life, how long it will take to fully charge the battery, and the approximate cost of doing so. Very important, especially if you are about to take a longer road trip or need to travel in some questionable weather. Similar to a remote start system, the phone app will also allow the owner to turn on the heat or AC. It even shows the internal temperature of the car to help the driver decide if it’s worth turning on the climate control and using valuable electricity.
Also, Nissan previously partnered up with Apple to promote iAd campaigns as a way to promote advertising for the Leaf. It allowed Apple device owners the chance to get product information and facts on the first 100% electric vehicle. The iAd initiative is also in the works to be used with other Nissan models. Maybe down the road iPhone and Android users will be able to get iAd marketing on the Nissan Pathfinder, Lake Country residents can find in stock here at Liberty Nissan.
What is for sure is that mobile apps are the wave of the future in the automotive world.
